To further add to
Rethinkthings commercial collection of accessible and fun
homewares, the studio was asked to produce artwork for textile
prints to be converted into cushion covers for wholesale. It was
important the printing process was straightforward and affordable
and only used on colour per print to keep set up costs low. The
concept of how we understood what a cushion could be, was initially
explored, and a range of ideas for something that was both fun and
relevant to the context of use were generated. Following feedback in testing it was decided that
a typographic representation of the word “whoopee” made an instant
connection with individuals as euphemism for delinquency and play.
Both of these concepts, visually link with notions of spirited
affection and these feelings were reflected in the choice of colour
and typography.
